A non-invasive, drug-free way to treat the underlying cause of many learning, behavioural and emotional difficulties
Get in TouchI work with children, teenagers and adults experiencing behavioural, emotional and learning difficulties and offer a neural stimulation programme designed to inhibit (‘switch off’) retained primitive reflexes which often underlie these difficulties.
Primitive reflexes are early survival reflexes that are present at birth but which should only be active for the first year of life. If they are retained beyond this time, they can act as a barrier to normal development of the central nervous system causing it to function at an immature level. This is referred to as ‘neuro-developmental delay’.
Children with behavioural, emotional and learning difficulties such as anxiety, dyslexia, ADHD, ADD and dyspraxia as well as those on the autistic spectrum are often found to be developmentally delayed.
Neuro-developmental therapy aims to promote development of the central nervous system by inhibiting retained primitive reflexes. By removing these ‘barriers’ to normal development, the brain is given a second chance to develop relying on its ‘neuroplasticity’ – meaning its ability to change throughout life by reorganising itself and forming new connections and neural pathways.
The treatment programme consists of a combination of skin stimulation and physical exercises, which are carried out at home and take between 5 and 10 minutes each day. Follow-up visits take place every 6 - 8 weeks.
